Try, Try Again

Ok, guess I will try this again.... if Firefox flakes out on me again we are going to have to box!

  • Got my camera, don't know how to use it, but I got it! I got a lot of reading to do on the plane, I ain't got nothin but time tho. I decided on the Canon PowerShot S3 IS. I'm hoping to bring back some decent shots.
  • I bought some new DVDs for the trip, Bigmomma's House 2, Capote, The Italian Job, How to Lose A Guy in Ten Days (cough** bullshit cough**), The Corpse Bride and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. The later three are for T "- had to be fair and get some that a teen would like.
  • I've been in the market for a reasonable priced sub notebook. After months of reading reviews I decided on the Averatec 1000 Series with it's 10.6 inch screen. I thought it would be perfect for my upcoming travels, and I found it on buy.com with a $100.00 rebate, $15.00 dollars off and free shipping!! After it arrived, I couldn't wait to get it out of the packaging and set it up. I noticed on restarts, I continued to get an error.... some thing about "boot disk" called Averatec, they told be bad hard drive! I sent that piece of shit right on back to buy.com for a refund. I have to say they made the refund process effortless. No more Averatecs for me..... you get what you pay for! I'm going to pay a few dollars more, and get this one.
  • I read a lot of review on companies that provide walking tours in Rome. I decided on Context:Rome we will be taking the SCALA REALE TOUR: Roma Antica and the SCALA REALE TOUR: Taste of Italy Wine Walk I want "T" to get some knowledge while we are there. But we do plan to discover the city on our own too.
  • My job is getting on my nerves....STILL! I got a couple of things in the pipeline..wish me luck.
  • I caught the final airings of American Inventor I really like that show. The guy with the very revolutionary car seat won. I thought the black guy with the electronic educational game - Word Ace did well, I wanted him to win.
  • 1 day until departure for Roma Italia!!
    Ciao

Rox.gifalton.jpg

It finally came to me!!!!!! I blurted it out while watching The Apprentice tonight. I've been watching the latest installment of the show for a few weeks now - and everytime I saw Roxanne, when she smiled I tried to no avail to determine who she looked like. I told C, a few weeks back that she reminded me of some dude but I couldn't put my finger on it.

It's Alton Williams from Real World Las Vegas!

(sorry for the crappy photo from my camera phone)
Good Lord this thing is good!!! I've had two this weekend!

Arby's new Gyro sandwich is "slow-roasted, thinly sliced, warm roast beef seasoned with traditional Greek herbs and spices (oregano, lemon, garlic, salt and pepper) and topped with fresh tomatoes, lettuce and sliced red onions. It is served on warm pita flatbread with cucumber gyro sauce."
And they load the meat on too!

From MSN Money:
"If Arby's were in Greece, this is what the locals would be lining up to enjoy," said Greek culture expert, Maria Pantelis, who was born and raised in Athens. "Arby's gyro has all of the authentic ingredients that you would look for in a gyro."

  • Work has been kicking my butt! I passed on a job offer this week, the hiring process had stretch over more than three weeks and I was set to start May 8th. Something started to give me second thoughts, I thought about it for awhile and became extremely apprehensive about leaving my current job which I hate with the Passion of the Christ! I got a call today from a company that I'm interested in - I guess it was good that I adhered to that whisper from God (as Oprah calls it) as a new door has opened.
  • I would love to visit the thermal waters of Adler Thermae in Bagno Vignoni when I go to Italy later this month. Adler Thermae is a destination spa about an hour and half from Rome. It's beautiful, I only want to spend the day there and the rates I saw are for multiple days. It's very $$$$$pricey$$$$$!!
  • Speaking of Italy, our travel docs arrived today!!! 21 days and counting!
  • I still haven't purchased my camera yet...I want the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H1 I'm just holding out for the best price....It's the cheap skate in me!
  • I found a new cool site Woot. Woot has a very cool concept, they offer only one product for sale a day. When they run out of the item, that's it. You can't go back and buy yesterday's item. Their description of the items they sale are often very snappy and humorous all at the same time. Another cool thing is that I found out that the site is ran from my community!
  • I discover a new place! Well, it's actually an old place - I've been in the establishment when it was a club. The club closed and the building sat idle for some time. It reopened as The Velvet Hookah, when I say the name I thought WTF! And just knew it wouldn't be a place the "hop" would be going....I don't do hookahs. Anyhoo, after reading a local Dallas magazine I discovered that it really wasn't a place for women of the night but an hookah lounge.
What's a hookah? Wanna know? Here ya go:
A hookah is a traditional Middle Eastern or Asian device for smoking, which operates by water-filtration and indirect heat.
I'm not a smoker, so don't know if I would get into this or not, I checked out the menu and the food sounds good. I might just check it out.
  • T got her SAT scores this week - she did very well. I don't think she has to take it again as a Senior, unless she just wants to.
  • I love my new Mazda RX-8 but I'm having ipod withdrawls like a mug! I went by Tweeters and priced an ipod solution, it's a different setup than was in my last car and cheaper to boot. However, I'm not real crazy about the configuration. I think I'm going to have to break down and get it installed anyway - I don't do radio or CDs and I'm totally lost in the car without my playlists, my driving experience has been severly compromised!
  • I have a Real Estate blog in the making.... launch date TBD.
  • Last week I was facilitating a conference call with one of my customers - and I heard a noise, couldn't quite determine what it was as I was speaking. During the time when someone else on the call was talking I heard this "gurgling" type sound and some grunting. It dawned on me, without thinking I blurted out "Is someone sleeping!!!" Everyone on the call broke into a belly laugh! Some said they heard the sounds too. One woman said "I thought my husband was on the call" I said "geez, I know I'm boring, but I'm not that bad!" Anyway, it was a good laugh. Who ever was sleepy certainly woke up after that - the culprit was never revealed.
  • My flavia drink machine started leaking last week surprise.gif C jumped on the phone to Customer Service. They couldn't find the serial number for my unit in the system, so someone was going to have to call us back - oh the dread! The rep called, she had located the unit in the system, gave me a return approval code, and overnighted a new machine without question. She even let me change the color from the baby blue unit I had, and allowed me to get a red one - how sweet is that! I'm quick to slam companies with lousy customer service, It's only fair to praise the ones that do an impeccable job like Flavia. My coffee.gif is up to you!
  • I think I'm done *throws down the mic*
