Do you remember them????? Some of you "youngsters" may have never heard of this group. While "hijacking" music this weekend Loose Ends came to my mind. I thought of some of my favorite songs by them, and what I was doing at the time. This was during the time of "real music" good music! There was no need for sampling and such. The lyrics made sense too. No bullshit lyrics like "she ain't ain't got no panties on" or "it must be ya azz cause it ain't yo face, I need a tip drill".
Loose Ends was a black trio ( two guys, one girl) from England. They came on the scene in the early 80s. I remember getting wind of them around 1986 the album was named Zagora. However, they had quite a few albums before this one. Thier sound is R&B, with the music having a slight techno feel to it. They did well on the US music charts, quickly rising to the top.
Some of my favorite songs by them are:
Nights of pleasure
Mr. Bachelor
Stay a little while child
Watching you
Slow down
Thier sound is "timeless", even today it sounds great! I called my brother this morning and conferenced in my mother to play some of the songs because my bother really liked them too. He said, it reminded him of the time he stole my car during the night to take it on a joy ride and I had that cassette (remember those) in the player. Now, ain't that some shit!
Anyhoo, if you want to hear some great music check out Loose Ends!
They finally went there separate ways after musical conflicts I think. In the early to mid 90's they attempted a comeback which was unsuccessful. They replaced the female with another female singer and made a few more albums. Then one of the guys tried to take more of the lead singer position. In 92 they made "Loose Ends Tighten Up Volume 1" which from what I have read, is like some remixes or remastering of older songs.
I was also (still am) a huge Culture Club/Boy George fan. Loved Duran Duran, The Gap Band, SOS, Vanity 6
If you are feeling generous today, hit that Amazon Wishlist link and send a sista some Loose End CDs :)
What were some of your favorite groups from the 80s??????
Loose Ends were a really cool group.
Sorry to drop this on you, but one of the guys got killed in a racially motivated account a few years ago. He was set on fire whilst using a phone booth. A real shame.
What!! that is horrible. When did this happen? Which one of the guys was it?
Alright, you know Loose Ends is my quite possibly one of my all-time favorite groups, and I have every single one of their songs they ever made. I can't find out any information anywhere about the demise of one of the members. It's absolutely driving me crazy!
